Langley Manor pupils at Carroty Wood

Grosvenor Hall

One of the ways we develop a child’s confidence and intelligence is through our annual trip to Grosvenor Hall This is not an optional extra but an essential part of the curriculum which improves children’s performance and confidence back in the classroom. Academic intelligence is of paramount importance, but it is just one of the intelligences that need to be developed if a child is to achieve their full potential.

This trip is the highlight of the school year. We take all children from Year 0 to Year 5 to stay for between one and four nights in a residential centre in Kent. Both Year 0 and Year 6 visit for a day trip. The older children take part in exciting outdoor activities. This encourages independence and develops trust between teachers and pupils. The children often make new friends and learn to respect each other.

Year 6 trip to France

One of the highlights for our Year 6 pupils is the annual residential trip to Normandy. The group spends five days consolidating and extending the French they have learned during their time at the school. The trip really is about putting their learning into practice with visits to local attractions, shopping, competitions and sporting activities all taking place.

Visits will include the following:

  • The Bayeux Tapestry
  • Mont St. Michel Abbey
  • The D-Day Landing Beaches

This year, the group will travel to Bayeux by fast ferry and coach to a purpose-built centre which is professionally run and managed. ‘Bon voyage’ et ‘Bon retour’ for all our Year 6 pupils on this exciting trip!

Italian trip to Lake Garda and Venice

During the first week of the Summer half term a group of children and parents travelled to Italy. The trip took in famous sites linked to English, art, history and geography topics. It was a trip that was greatly enjoyed by all. Plans for the 2012 trip are underway and the planned destinations are Naples and Pompeii.
